As I sit on my couch with the windows open, I can hear the birds and see the leaves rustling in the trees. It’s May, and time for counting birds. Jim leaves today for West Virginia. He’ll be gone for six weeks! I will be taking a trip of my own in June to visit family and friends in Pennsylvania. Jim and I will meet up near the end of my journey for a couple of days.

So much uncertainty remains for us. I need to find another job. We are not renewing our lease so we will be moving in July.

This feels like a turning point. We made it through the winter up here in New England. What happens next will depend on the opportunities that appear, the choices we make, and the circumstances that we find ourselves in.
