I decided, shortly after our company asked employees to work from home, to do something with the extra time I had. Even on the weekends, I was not going to the usual social events and performing my customary volunteer work. What was I going to do with that time? I feel for people with children. This new way of living puts more strain on parents. Personally, however, I feel freer and less trapped by the typical conventions that wear me down.

So I am taking an online class. The goal of the class is to inspire students in making their writing a priority. I am really enjoying the class so far.

One of the suggested practices is to engage in freewriting every day. This consists of spending at least 15 minutes a day writing without judgment, correction, or censorship. I admit that, on some days, I don’t take the time to do this. When I do though, I find the experience to be both fun and cathartic.
